Bats are essential for the ecosystem, eating thousands of insects each night—but your attic or roof isn’t the place for them. In Florida, especially during the spring and summer, bat colonies often take shelter in rooflines, gable vents, and soffits.

At Rogue Pest & Wildlife Control, we help homeowners safely and legally remove bats before they become a bigger problem.

⚠️ Are Bats Dangerous?

Yes—and no. Bats are rarely aggressive, but they do pose serious risks:

  • Guano (bat droppings) builds up quickly and causes strong odors and fungal growth

  • Histoplasmosis, a lung disease from bat guano spores, can affect humans and pets

  • Rabies risk—though rare—is real, especially if a bat is found inside living areas

Additionally, the smell of guano attracts other pests like cockroaches and rodents.

🚫 When You Can’t Remove Bats in Florida

Florida law protects bats during their maternity season from April 15 to August 15. During this time, it’s illegal to exclude bats because flightless pups may be left to die.

If bats are present during this window, Rogue will inspect and monitor the colony and schedule removal the moment it's legally allowed.
